Spring Hills Hazardous Fuels Reduction

This project will expand the existing fuels reduction work implemented by the Caribou-Targhee National Forest as part of the Presidential Healthy Forest Initiative. The project area is located North of Malad and East of Interstate 15 (Oneida County, Idaho) and stretches roughly from I-15 on the West to Highway 36 on the North and East and Susan Hollow on the South. Approximately 50 private acres make up the private property portion of the project. The Caribou-Targhee National Forest is working on approximately 600 acres. Work will begin in 2005 and include line preparation, prescribed fire and fence restoration (if needed). This project is inside the Malad Municipal Watershed adjacent to Deep Creek Reservoir. The prescribed fire is designed to reduce hazardous fuels and restore rangeland heath on 650 acres of federal and private property.
